Lord Brahma is one of the Trinity of gods in Hindu mythology . The other two are Siva and Vishnu .Brahma is the creator , the source of time , space and universal knowledge .
The Hindu mythology describes Brahma as springing from the lotus in the naval of Lord Vishnu .His name is Nabhija (naval born ).
He is also called Praja-pati ,one who created all creatures .

Brahma has four arms holding up different objects -- akshamala , kusa grass , spoon , kamandala and pustaka .Akshamala symbolises time and kamandala the waters of creation . Kusa and spoon denote the system of yajna and sacrifice . The pustak represents knowledge .Swan which stands for purity and sanctity is his vahan.
Scholars says that Brahma cult existed in pre vedic culture and later he was worshipped along with Vishnu.There are one or two temples for Brahma ,the famous one is in Pushkar near Ajmir .
